It is very important to monitor the information contained in your credit report. In the past this wasn't so easy to do. As of September 1, 2005 all consumer are eligible to receive an annual free credit report online.
The Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACT Act) was signed into law on December 4, 2003 by President Bush. The FACT Act will help to insure that consumers will be able to easily monitor their credit scores, confront the growing problem of identity theft and maintain a good credit history.
Under the FACT Act consumers in all 50 states and U. S. Territories may request and receive a free annual credit report online once every 12 months from each of the three national credit reporting companies.
